Vincent's very own game.
A Shooting/RPG video game for the PlayStation 2 that was released by Square Enix in 2006.
The game takes place three years after the events of Final Fantasy VII.
An organization called Deepground threatens the calm that has begun to settle after all that has happened during the past years.
Vincent becomes involved and Cerberus sings it's dirge.
- Dirge of Cerberus PlayOnline -
Included with the original Japanese release of the game there was also an online multiplayer mode, Dirge of Cerberus PlayOnline, that came on a bonus disc. But it was shut down just before the North American release of the game, slightly more than half a year after it's start. The game was about playing as a Deepground Soldier sometime during the three years between Final Fantasy VII and
Dirge of Cerberus and centered around the Tsviets' plan to overthrow the Restrictors, the then rulers of Deepground. There were 13 Event Scenes in the PlayOnline mode that told it's story. Although the online version itself does not exist anymore there were some players who saved these videos and a translated version of them can be watched via this link.
Though Vincent doesn't appear in the actual storyline of DoC PlayOnline, the players were able to fight against both Chaos and Galian Beast as well as Turk Vincent (or at least holograms of them) in certain special missions.
Also, Vincent's father is mentioned in Event Scene nr. 6.
Many of the missions that were possible to take on in the online game were adapted as the unlockable Extra Missions for the final version
of Dirge of Cerberus (the Japanese International Edition and both the North American and European editions).
- Lost Episode -
A cellphone game called Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode has also been released and is still availible in both Japan and North America.
Lost Episode takes place between chapter 4 and chapter 5 of Dirge of Cerberus and tells of how Vincent made his way to
Shinra Manor to gather more information about both Deepground and his past. On his way he encounters a many of the forces of Deepground, including Rosso the Crimson and (though not directly) Nero the Sable.
Dirge of Cerberus - Story
- Chapter 1 – Sea of Flames -
Three years ago, in the chaos that prevailed when Meteor was headed towards Midgar,
Cloud Strife and his companions were evacuating the people of the city.
Yuffie Kisaragi had just finished her job and contacted Vincent Valentine to hear how
things had gone for him. Vincent, though, seemed to have sensed something disturbing
and asked Yuffie to scan the area where his previous battle against Hojo had taken place.
The scanner showed that something was still alive...
Yuffie tried to warn Vincent and pleaded for him to wait, but after answering Yuffie by
telling her that he seemed to have something to finish, and that she should go back to
Cloud and the others, Vincent closed the call.
Vincent hurried up towards the platform with the big computer where Hojo's body still
lay to find out what was happening, and when he once again saw the immobile body of the
mad professor he raised Cerberus and prepared himself.
Vincent was forced to cease with what he had thought to finish when he was surprised by
a pair of sudden explosions that made everything around him start collapsing, but a motion
sick Yuffie appeared to his rescue on a flying mini-scooter which Vincent managed to
jump aboard onto.
Hojo's body seemed to have disappeared, and the only thing left was a flickering computer
screen...
Three years later Vincent Valentine was invited to a celebration in the city of Kalm
by his old friend Reeve Tuesti. Vincent sat in a room in the city and thought about
Lucrecia.
The TV was on and showed a report on the Shinra Building. Some people had disappeared
while they were examining a door beneath the building that had been shut for years.
Vincent gazed instead up at the moon and a heaven filled with the fireworks that were
a part of the celebration that was going on in Kalm.
But suddenly something else appeared. A bomb hit one of the houses in the city and
helicopters filled with armed forces landed on the city streets and the celebrating
reached a quick end as Kalm was once again aflame.
Vincent, who until then had been standing by his window and watching what had happened
in such a short time, was confronted by a helicopter whose missiles made Vincent's entire
room explode.
Vincent, though, had already jumped out of the building and shot down the helicopter in
an instant.
The soldiers in the streets had begun loading their captives into large storage
containers, and Vincent ventured out to do what he could.
A few soldiers managed to quickly scan Vincent's data though, and the data was sent to Shelk
the Transparent who satisfiedly stated that what they had been searching for had been found.
Vincent saved many from the soldiers on his way to the centre of the city, where he and
Reeve had previously agreed to meet. After fighting numerous soldiers several missiles forced
him to seek cover in a nearby house. There he was suddenly confronted by Shelk and Azul the
Cerulean of the Tsviets. Shelk mentioned something called Protomateria before she collapsed
and Azul was forced to draw back with her for the moment when Reeve's WRO soldiers (World Regenesis
Organization) were heard approaching from a distance.
Reeve and and his WRO soldiers finally appeared and Vincent and Reeve had the time to exchange
a few words concerning what was going on around them, whereupon Reeve asked Vincent if he wanted
to help them.
Shortly thereafter an enemy soldier shot Reeve in the back, and a very worried Vincent rushed
forward to his friend after shooting down the hostile soldier.
But Vincenct's worried expression was soon exchanged for a surprised one as the Reeve doll fell
apart in his arms and Cait Sith tumbled out of it. Cait Sith told Vincent that to be on the safe side
he had decided to come disguised as Reeve, and that the important thing right now was to rid the
city of the enemy forces. They could meet in a new place afterwards and continue their talk.
Vincent helped the WRO soldiers in saving as many civilians as they could, and getting rid
of as much of the attacking forces as possible. After having fought yet another helicopter, this
time in his Galian Beast form, Vincent came under fire from the helicopter's surviving crew.
As he catiously parried the shots with his armoured arm several trucks filled with WRO soldiers
led by Reeve appeared, and together they cleaned up the remains of the enemy troops.
After the battle Vincent and Reeve were once again able to exchange a few words. Reeve thanked
Vincent for his help, but also told him that the city of Edge near Midgar seemed to be
under attack as well and therefore asked Vincent to follow him there to give them more help.
- Chapter 2 – Battle in the Wastes -
In Edge the WRO soldiers were attacked not only by ordinary enemy soldiers, but also by a
mysterious darkness...
Many were also killed by Rosso the Crimson of the Tsviets.
In a viechle on it's way to the city Reeve explained more about the situation and what had led
to it. Vincent was told that the enemy was called Deep Ground Soldiers and that they had been
created at the order of the former President Shinra. Among the Deep Ground Soldiers there was
also an elite who stood apart from the rest: The Tsviets. Reeve though, in spite of his past
within Shinra, did not have much information on the DGS project since the very existence of
DGS had been kept secret from all but a select few. Except for the President himself only
Heidegger, Scarlet and Hojo had been involved in the project.
When Vincent heard that Hojo had had to do with it he became even more concerned.
Reeve thereafter said that a large group of people had disappeared some time ago from the port
city of Junon, more than 1200 individuals were missing. And around the time of the mass
disappearance a rumour had started to spread that hundreds of tortured screams could be heard
coming from the ruins of Midgar at night...
Their conversation was suddenly interrupted when a WRO soldier asked them to take a look at the
monitor, where a mysterious transmission had begun showing.
An unknown man had appeared on the screen with the message that all on the Planet who were not
even worthy to be chosen would be hunted until they met a gruesome death.
Vincent and Reeve did not have the time to discuss what they had just seen since they were
attacked by a large pack of Guard Hounds immediately after the transmission. After having shot
one of them who had been close to throwing itself over Reeve with Cerberus, Vincent continued
to try to hold them off with the help of the veichles stationary machine gun. But when the
attacking beasts started to get up on the roof of the veichle Vincent too had to go there to
keep them away.
Only after having crossed a deep ravine and a broken bridge with the veichle were they finally
able to shake off the pursuers, at least for the moment. But the engine had been damaged by the
wild ride and Reeve therefore asked Vincent to continue on alone towards Edge while he remained
to repair the veichle and meanwhile try to get a grip on what had just been said in the
worrying transmission.
Vincent then continued on on his own, but was forced to fight against more blue Guard Hounds
and their red leader, and thereafter also defeat a group of DG soldiers aboard flying,
scooter-like machines.
- Chapter 3 – Silent Edge -
Vincent was met by a desolate Edge. No sounds except the drip of the heavily falling rain was heard.
Meanwhile Rosso sat in a warehouse and repeated to herself, in a pleased way, the speech that the
unknown man, whom she knew as Weiss, had given earlier. Around her lay the lifeless bodies of a
large number of WRO soldiers.
Vincent was pursued by a woman in a lab coat, but after that they both had pulled their guns he
noticed that a WRO card was attached to the coat. After having concluded that they belonged to the
same side the woman presented herself as Shalua Rui. She also told that she had heard a lot
about Vincent from Reeve. Neither Shalua knew what had happened in Edge, but she excused herself
and explained that there was something she had to look for.
Vincent continued on his own again, and after having wandered around for a while he found a seriously
injured WRO soldier. The man told, with great difficulty, how an enemy soldier in red had killed the
other WRO soldiers. He also mentioned a warehouse where people had been gathered.
Thereafter he died and Vincent closed the soldiers eyes.
After having gone further on for a while, Vincent reached Edge's central square. When he had shot
down a few enemy snipers he caught sight of a young boy who ran past him. Vincent followed the boy
and, after saving him from a few DG soldiers, the boy told him that he knew the way to the warehouse.
Vincent continued to protect him while he showed the way, and when they were almost there the boy
explained that his entire family had been killed. He bade Vincent avenge them, but Vincent did not
answer him and continued on instead.
When finally inside the warehouse Vincent found only a few DG soldiers, of whom one was larger and
stronger than the rest. He defeated them all and went outside again, only to face Rosso. She told
him to hand over the Protomateria, the key to controlling Omega. When Vincent did not know what she
was talking about Rosso started to attack him instead. Vincent tried to avoid her, but after having
been hit by one of her attacks and thrown into a wall he fell to the ground.
To Rosso's surprise Vincent was transformed into Chaos and drove her away.
After this an exhausted Vincent transformed back into his ordinary form and once again fell to the
ground. The last thing he saw before everything turned dark was that Shalua once again approached him.
- Chapter 4 – WRO Under Attack -
A flashback showed Vincent sitting in Lucrecia's cave. The voice of Lucrecia said that she was sorry,
and Vincent asked why.
Vincent, still with short hair and wearing his Turks costume, confronted the mad scientist
Hojo, which resulted in that Vincent was shot. A laughing Hojo then had the idea that he could use
Vincent in his experiments...
Vincent woke up after having been experimented on, but everything was blurry and he could not control
himself...
Once again Vincent woke up, this time in a test tube, and saw Lucrecia outside...
More than thirty years later Vincent again found himself in a test tube, though this time it was not
Lucrecia, but instead Shalua, who was sitting outside of it. The sleeping Shalua also woke up soon
afterwards and let Vincent out. She told him that he was now in the WRO Headquarters and that she had
brought him there after his battle against one of the Tsviets and subsequent passing out.
The conversation brought them to the subject of Chaos and Shalua wondered if Vincent was Lucrecia's
experiment. Vincent was surprised by this and asked what Lucrecia had to do with Chaos. Shalua in turn
was also surpsied that Vincent did not know, and went over to a computer while explaining that Lucrecia
had written down information about Chaos. When Vincent wondered if it was possible to read that
information somewhere he got the answer that it was too old, and that it had never been stored in any
database. Shalua had only been able to read a few fragments of it long ago.
Their discussion was interrupted when Reeve arrived and was surprised that Vincent was already awake.
Somewhere in Deep Ground, Shelk sat by a computer. Azul asked her what had happened with the keeper of
the Protomateria, and Shelk replied that he appeared to be located in the WRO Headquarters. Azul
suggested that they should go there and, after having risen from the computer and picking up a materia
that had been lying on a nearby table, Shelk left the room.
Meanwhile Reeve, Vincent and Shalua talked about what Vincent had just heard from Rosso. Shalua
began to quote a piece of the text by Lucrecia that she had read previously, and guessed that the answer
was to be found in Lucrecias reports and that the best thing to do now was to try and find them.
Suddenly an alarm rang out and the WRO Headquarters were under attack.
Vincent made his way out into the rest of the building to see what he could do. Reeve told him through a
speaker that the DG soldiers had already entered the building and asked Vincent to hurry. Meanwhile
Shalua caught sight of Shelk on one of the surveilance monitors and seemed to recognize her...
Vincent helped the WRO soldiers as well as was possible, but after they asked him to get to Reeve's
room to see if he needed help Vincent went there instead. Though as soon as Vincent reached the room
a DG soldier came flying out, and soon thereafter both Reeve and Cait Sith walked out of it. Both
appeared surprised when they saw Vincent. They said that they were doing fine, but that they would need
Vincent's help against Azul.
Vincent headed towards the basement of the WRO Headquarters, but when he entered a large room he was met
by Shalua, who was pointing her gun in his direction. Shelk, whom in an invisible form had been following
Vincent, now became visible. Shelk seemed surprised that Shalua had seen through her, but Shalua explained
that she had been looking for her for the last ten years. Shalua tried to get closer to her but was hindered
when Shelk drew her weapons and told her to stop. Shelk said that it did not matter who neither she or Shalua
was. Shalua then exclaimed that it did, and even if ten years had passed she was still her sister. Shelk
thought back on the past ten years and told that she had had to endure much during this time and that she no
longer had any hope that someone would come and rescue her. Her body needed Mako to not collapse, and even though
she actually should be nineteen she had stopped aging long ago. Shalua said that she was sorry and broke out in
tears.
Reeve turned up and tried to get Shelk to realize how much Shalua had gone through to try and get her back. He
told her that she had both lost an arm and an eye and that no matter how close to death she was, she still
continued to struggle to live on so that she would one day be able to save her sister. Shelk interrupted him
and prepared herself to kill Shalua, but Vincent protected her and Shelk missed. After that Vincent had fought
Shelk she fell to the ground and Shalua rushed forward to take care of her.
Vincent and Reeve wandered off to confront Azul.
Azul wondered why they had cared for Shelk, but when Vincent did not reply he began to close in on them both.
Azul turned out to have a protective barrier which made it hard to hit him but, after having succeeded in hitting
him with a big weapon that Reeve had prepared, the barrier was finally destroyed. Vincent asked Reeve to take
himself to safety while he fought Azul. Vincent struck down Azul, even if the latter said that he was not yet
defeated.
Later, when Vincent was leaving the WRO Headquarters, Reeve asked him where he was going. Vincent replied that
he was going to go to Nibelheim. Reeve then warned him and said that the area around Nibelheim was filled with
Deep Ground Soldiers and that the safest way to get to Shinra Manor was through the underground aqueducts around
the old Mako Reactor. Reeve also added that he was going to try to find out what the DG soldiers were doing...

- Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode -
- - Chapter 1 - -
In a chopper on the way to Nibelheim Vincent recieved further instructions via his phone.
Reeve told him that maybe Dr. Crescent had left something important behind in Shinra
Manor and therefore asked Vincent to gather and bring back as much information as
possible that could be of help to them in order to understand the current situation.
When Reeve mentioned Lucrecia it made Vincent think back on her.
He turned to the pilot and asked where they were, and had just recieved the answer that
they were in the vicinity of Junon, before a Gargoyle suddenly attacked the chopper by
crashing straight into it and killing the pilot in mere seconds. The only thing Vincent
could do was to try and defend himself and what was left of the chopper by shooting down
the attacking Gargoyles with Cerberus.
After that several of them had been killed it seemed as though they were pulling back a bit.
Vincent withdrew back into the chopper, but was suddenly surprised when a Gargoyle ripped
apart the wall of the chopper behind him. The Gargoyle grabbed ahold of Vincent and pulled
him out of the chopper. Vincent turned into Galian Beast and began attacking them as well
as he could while falling closer and closer to the ground. He precisely managed to defeat
them all before both he and the chopper hit the ground. The chopper erupted in flames and
Vincent turned back into his ordinary form and continued on foot.
Someone observed him from a distance though. A shadow wanted to see the darkness that Vincent
bore inside of him...
After a while Reeve once again managed to establish contact with Vincent via his phone. Reeve
told that the area that Vincent was in seemed safe for the moment and began helping him find
his way. Soon thereafter Vincent encountered Guard Hounds, but was able to beat them without
any trouble. It was important for Vincent to reach Junon as quickly as possible and soon he
found a cave that led him closer to the city. Reeve asked him to be extra careful.
Vincent met a large amount of Guard Hounds, but after having one again turned into Galian Beast
he defeated them too. He found a ladder and, after having climbed up it, found himself face
to face with a Crimson Guard Hound that guarded a closed tunnel. He managed to defeat it and
thereafter carefully made his way through the tunnel that Reeve said would lead in the direction
of Junon. Vincent came out in a valley and paused to ask Reeve for a new veichle that could
take him to Shinra Manor. Reeve answered that he could arrange for a new chopper in Costa del Sol.
Vincent would have to make his way across the sea first, and therefore needed to take a ship
from Junon. After having heard this Vincent hurried on towards the large port city.
- Chapter 2 -
At the outskirts of Junon Vincent was met by a number of scared people who were running about.
Some of them were shouting something about a monster before rushing onwards. It was from
Junon that 1200 persons had disappeared without a trace some time ago. Now Junon was not much
more than a ghost town where those who still dwelt there lived in fear and sorrow.
Vincent met many Deep Ground Soldiers on his way through the city. Reeve continued to give
Vincent instructions in order to help him on his way. After having made his way through a door,
Vincent needed to destroy three generators to open yet another closed door. He managed to
destroy the first two genreators while fighting against a few DG Soldiers but had to transform
into Galian Beast to destroy the the third generator, since it was protected by an extra strong
case. Thereafter he had to fight on against a large number of DG Soldiers to break through the
now opened door...
- Chapter 3 -
Once he had reached the other side Vincent managed to reach one of Junons large platform elevators.
The elevator was stopped time and time again by DG Soldiers and Vincent had to both make use
of a stationary machine gun, as well as his Galian Beast form, to continue his journey.
After having reached a street on Junons third level, Vincent saw a Deep Ground chopper fly
past above his head. Yet another chopper came flying as the first one dropped several soldiers
somewhere in Junon. The soldiers immediately surrounded a pair of civilians, and soon Rosso too
stepped out of one of the choppers. She swiftly killed both the civilians and then made the
soldiers spread out into the area.
- Chapter 4 -
Vincent had now reached Junons lower level and was there met by a boy who asked him if he was the
monster who had come and taken everyone. He told that everything had turned black, and that the
stars had gone out. It was then that the shadow had come... A clawed shadow...
After having said this the boy quickly ran away.
Vincent continued swiftly onwards and soon encountered a woman who was being threatened by a
DG Soldier. Vincent shot the soldier and the woman thanked him before running off. Vincent fought
many more soldiers and was eventually also attacked by a chopper. But he managed to make it pull
back after having used a stationary machine gun.
After having made his way through yet another part of the city Vincent found a ladder that carried
him further down, closer to the harbour. He was once again attacked by the chopper and used another
stationary machine gun to hold it back. Afterwards he found a second ladder and could continue on
his way down, all the while fighting against countless DG Soldiers.
He saved one more woman and then had to turn into Galian Beast to fight against a large group of
soldiers that had surrounded him.
- Chapter 5 -
Vincent entered a warehouse and was met by a Crimson Guard Hound that dragged away the boy that
had spoken to him earlier. Vincent pursued them both through many doors and levels, while being
attacked by both DG Soldiers and again by the chopper. This time Vincent managed to bring it
down though and, after having exploded, the wreckage crashed into the ocean.
He once again caught sight of the boy and when the Guard Hound this time attacked Vincent he
quickly shot it. The boy rushed forward towards Vincent to thank him and said that he was sorry
for having believed that Vincent had been the monster. The boy got away just before Rosso
entered the room by a stair that led down from the roof. She seemed pleased to see Vincent and
said that he would pay for what had happened to her the last time they had met. After saying this
she smiled and rushed back up the same way that she had come. Vincent followed her up on the roof
and was there met by Rosso's guards. Soon Vincent had killed them all, but was then surprised by
Rosso who suddenly appeared directly in front him. With one blow she made Vincent fall over the
edge of the building. But he caught himself with one hand and managed to get up again, fire at
some exploding battels behind Rosso and then leaping away to get himself to safety. Rosso though
seemed mostly amused with it all.
Vincent took the opportunity to call Reeve and tell him that he had now taken care of Deep Ground.
Reeve was happy to hear this, but wondered if Vincent would make it to the ship in time. Vincent
answered that he was on his way.
He ran on towards the harbour, but was again delayed by Rosso. She attacked him with her weapon
and said that she wanted to be the one to kill him.
- Chapter 6 -
Vincent had to fight against both her and many soldiers on his way, and soon he also saw that
the ship that he was about to catch was leaving the harbour. He continued to fight against
Rosso and the DG SOldiers while rushing onwards. Finally he managed to reach the end of the
docks and with a gigantic leap he succeeded in making his way onto the ship. Rosso chased
after him but stopped suddenly on the docks and pulled out a telephone. She had recieved a
new order and could no longer pursue Vincent.
The shadow from earlier, Nero, was still close by and watched all that happened.
Aboard the ship Vincent walked about and had a look around. Suddenly he recognized the music
that was being played in a room. A memory from the past, a time when Vincent and Lucrecia
had dancend, appeared...
Lucrecia had turned on the radio and asked him to dance. Vincent had, surprised, answered that
he did not know how, but Lucrecia had not cared. Instead she had grabbed ahold of him and asked
if he did not like her, and when Vincent tried to say that that was not what he had meant she
once again told him to dance with her. Vincent had no choice.
Lucrecia said that this was not too bad, was it?
He was pulled back into the present when the passengers on the ship began calling for help.
The ship was under attack by Sahagin and Gargoyles.
- Chapter 7 -
Vincent quickly killed a couple of Sahagin and then rushed out to find out how the situation
was. A sailor told him that the ship was sinking. He asked Vincent to help evacuate the
passengers to the life rafts. Vincent began shooting down attacking Gargoyler and Sahagin while
trying to help the passengers. Suddenly a woman jumped of the last life raft as she shouted
something about her research. She rushed past Vincent who had to hurry after her. He tried to
make her stop and said that it was too dangerous, but she replied that she had to get her
research. She did not want to see it lost.
This made Vincent recall yet another memory...
Vincent and Lucrecia danced, and Vincent answered that it was not that bad. Then he caught sight
of the Protomateria that was lying on a desk nearby. He asked Lucrecia about it. Lucrecia began
a reply, but stopped herself. Vincent then asked if it was important, and recieved the reply that
it was very important...
Vincent one again found himself in the present and asked the woman he had just talked to if her
research was very important.
She answered that it was very important...
Vincent then said that it was alright for her to try and retrieve her research, but that he too
would try to help her find it. They made their way deeped and deeper into the ship and after
Vincent had shot down several Sahagin they finally found her luggage. Thereafter they hurried
back up through the corridors that were now filling up with water. They met more Sahagins and
Vincent was forced to turn into Galian Beast to fight them all.
At last they were back on the ship's deck and the woman thanked Vincent and said that her
research was everything to her. Vincent watched her walk away and once again thought about the past.
Lucrecia told him that she sometimes became so engulfed in her research that she would lose herself,
but that Vincent was always there to save her. She thanked Vincent for this.
Vincent wondered in surprise why she was thanking him. Lucrecia answered that she just wanted to.
Vincent now stood and leaned out across the railing of the ship and watched the life raft floating
away. He was deeply buried in his memories and wondered about Lucrecia's research.
Nero appeared behind Vincent. He wanted to know more... More about the darkness that was inside
of Vincent. He threw a dark sphere towards Vincent, who turned around and tried to shoot it down
with Cerberus. This turned out to be useless and he was forced to jump over it to avoid being hit.
Where Vincent had been standing a Black Widow stepped out of the sphere, which disappeared afterwards.
Vincent tried to fight the Black Widow as well as he could, but it would jump from place to place and
when it leaped above him and fired a very powerful beam at the same time Vincent was thrown hard into
a wall. He leaned against the wall with great effort and saw the Protomateria that now lay exposed in
his chest. Another memory appeared, this time of when Lucrecia once had held the Protomateria in her hand.
Had she been in torment? He had not been able to do anything...
He had to try and reach Shinra Manor.
Somehow Vincent found enough strenght to stand up.
He had to find out more about her.
Vincent continued to fight against the Black Widow, both with the help of Cerberus and by transforming
into Galian Beast, and finally he defeated it and saw it fall over the edge of the ship.
The ship sank and Vincent was caught beneath barrels and other things that were being pulled down...
He thought that he did not have much time left...
More memories appeared...
And Lucrecias voice asked him to live.
Vincent was brought out of the water by a submarine. The hatch opened and out came... Cait Sith.
He had had a feeling that something was wrong, and was very happy that he had arrived just in time.
Vincent thanked him.
Caith Sith said that something still felt wrong.
The darkness watched the submarine from a distance. Nero made himself visible and told himself that
he had finally got to see the darkness that was hidden inside Vincent...
But there was something else that he had to do and could therefore not stay. Someone had trespassed...
In a very precious place. But he would soon met Vincent again...
Nero pulled back for the moment and left Vincent and Cait Sith alone.
Vincent was once again buried in his thoughts...
Shinra Manor, the place where it all began... All his sins where from there...
Maybe he could find out something more about Lucrecia... About her research...
Many memories floated past... Of Lucrecia, of Hojo, of the Protomateria, of Shinra Manor...
He would go there again. The place where she had been.
Vincent and Cait Sith entered the submarine and then continued their journey towards Costa del Sol,
escorted by two choppers.
- Chapter 5 – Manor of Despair -
Vincent made his way through the aqueducts and reached Shinra Manors cellar without encountering
much more than a few Sahagins.
In an elevator on the way up towards Shinra Manor Vincent thought back on the past...
More than thirty years ago Vincent Valentine of the Turks presented himself to Dr. Lucrecia.
He had come to Shinra Manor to serve as a bodyguard. For some reason Lucrecia seemed surprised
and wondering, but soon gathered herself and smiled and said her name.
Cait Sith was sneaking around down in Deep Ground (Mako Reactor 0) and was trying to ferret out
as much as possible without being discovered. After having succeeded in getting through a ventilation
pipe he saw a container being transported. Screams were heard coming from inside and Cait Sith
recognized it as one of the containers filled with people that had been gathered up in Kalm. He
hurried after it only to see it thrown down into a large pool of Mako. A gigantic hand reached up to
grab ahold of the container and drag it down into the dephts.
Cait Sith wondered to himself what the terrible thing he had just witnessed was and was answered by a
voice that it was Omega. Cait Sith managed to recognize the owner of the mysterious voice as Nero the
Sable before he was consumed by Nero's darkness...
In the cellar of Shinra Mansion Vincent was met by a materia rolling towards him as he entered a room.
After having picked up the materia it gave of a shining light and suddenly a hologram of Lucrecia was
there. Lucrecia started to speak with Vincent and asked if he had come there to find out more about
her. She smiled and started to walk towards him. Vincent held out his arms to embrace her, but with a
start he realized that it was only a hologram. Lucrecia continued to talk and asked if Omega was awakening.
Everything was lit up again and thereafter they were surrounded by a hologram of the Crystal Cavern.
Lucrecia stod in the place where Vincent used to sit when he was there to visit her and spoke of Chaos
and Omega. She told of what the Ceta, the Ancients, had written down. That Omega was the end and that
Chaos would gather up all life so that Omega could bring it to the sea of stars and leave behind a dead
planet. The hologram of the cavern disappeared and that of Lucrecia too started to fade away. Once again
she said that she was sorry, and that she did not know what would happen with Vincent, but that the
detailed information he was looking for was to be found there. Vincent caught sight of the data disk with
the information that was lying on a table and picked it up.
When Vincent wandered into yet another room in the upper part of Shinra Manor, this time one that had been
used for some form of experiments, he felt a pain shoot through him that made him once again remember
something about being in a test tube and seeing Lucrecia outside. After having returned to the present he
was met by Rosso. When he tried to ask her what they were planning to do with Omega Rosso answered that she
had no interest in it, but that Weiss wanted to get to Omega. And that all in Deep Ground obeyed Weiss. What
she really wanted to do was to kill. Something she had done ever since she and the others in Deep Ground had
awakened three years ago. And that her wish now was to kill everyone. Vincent raised Cerberus and said that
he would not allow such a thing. Instead of fighting Vincent directly Rosso sent out a Black Widow. After
that he had defeated it Rosso quickly sneaked up on him from behind, penetrated his chest and pulled the
Protomateria out of it. Vincent fell groaning to the ground and Chaos attempted to come forth, but without
succeeding. Rosso laughed and asked if he could not control himself without the materia.
She prepared to finish Vincent but was interrupted when a shuriken suddenly came flying, which gave of a
strong light that in turn gave Yuffie enough time to be able to lift Vincent up and save him from Rosso.
A furious Rosso tried to hurry out of Shinra Manor and catch up with them, but they were already gone.
To be continued...
