Final Fantasy VII is a RPG that came out for the Playstation in 1997. About a year later a PC-version was also released.
The game takes place in a world on the edge of it´s own destruction. The greedy company Shinra is sucking out the Planet´s lifeforce and turning it into energy with their Mako Reactors. The resistance movement AVALANCHE, led by Barret, is trying to stop them before it is too late.
You get to follow Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite force SOLDIER, and his friends in their struggle to protect the world.
In the game there are 9 playable characters, of which two must be found and convinced to join. One of these is the enigmatic Vincent Valentine.
Vincent in Final Fantasy VII
Vincent Valentine was with the Shinra Company Department in
Administrative Research,
also known as the Turks, and was sent to Nibelheim to supervise
security for the research station in Shinra Mansion.
There he met Dr. Gast's assistant, Lucrecia Crescent.
Vincents feelings for her came to grow, but she choose someone else. Hojo.
Vincent felt that as long as Lucrecia was happy, it was for the best.
Dr. Hojo and Lucrecia married and soon thereafter it was clear that
she bore the one who would later be known as Sephiroth.
But when Vincent found out that the child was to be used as a part
of the ongoing Jenova Project he confronted Hojo with the hope of making him
change his mind. But Dr. Hojo would not let anyone stand in the way of his
experiment, and Vincent's words were silenced when Hojo fired a shot that caused
Vincent to fall to the ground...
Hojo was, as always, on the lookout for new research specimens and when Vincent
lay there before his feet, new plans started to take form...
Vincent gained the ability to transform into a fearsome beast and was put to sleep in a coffin
in the cellar of Shinra Mansion.
Approximately 30 years later Cloud Strife and his friends came by in their hunt for Sephiroth and found Vincent.
In the beginning Vincent was reluctant to answer their questions, but when they mentioned that they
were searching for Sephiroth he realized that he might get the chance to face Hojo again and once and
for all put an end the scientist's madness. And perhaps he would also be able to find a way to redeem
himself for not having been able to do more for Lucrecia...
Vincent joined Cloud and the others and turned out to be a very strong and reliable companion,
who came to be a very good friend of them all.
When Vincent had traveled with the others for some time they discovered a hidden crystal cave.
There Vincent found, to his surprise, Lucrecia. But when he tried to get closer to her she bade
him stop. She was only a shadow of what she once had been, but the Jenova in her body prevented
her from fading away completely. She asked if Vincent knew of what had become of Sephiroth, the son
that she had never gotten to hold in her arms even once.
Vincent replied that Sephiroth was dead...
After having faced Sephiroth and found out his plans to destroy the Planet, as well as beaten Shinra, Vincent once again
stood before the obsessed Dr. Hojo. A Hojo who was even more crazed than ever. To make himself
invincible he had injected Jenova cells into his own body and, after so many of his theories and
researches had been overthrown, his formerly unshakeable views on everything were in shambles.
He laughed wildly and screamed that before Sephiroth science was nothing, and now he would help his
son by firing the great Mako Cannnon at him and thus give him an enourmous amount of power.
Vincent then realized that he had been wrong, and that the one who really should have slept so
long ago was Hojo.
The battle against Sephiroth took place in the Northern Crater and Vincent helped the others to
defeat him, and thus they saved the Planet together.
